Kirby's new favorite food is Chili!! I made it a couple of weeks ago, and tried not to make it too spicy. Apparently, the spicier the better. The little machine packed it away. Also tried Ice Cream. He was like a little bird waiting for more, and was not real happy when the bowl went dry.
Kirby seems to be doing better. At our last Dr. visit in Iowa City his hemoglobin was at 7.2 (it should be at 13). The Dr.'s said his body has adjusted to the low levels so he is doing well.
We go for more labs tomorrow and we're hoping for a jump. He needs to be to 10 in the next couple of weeks. The Dr.'s still think it is a virus attacking his RBC's. They said once the virus is out of his system, his counts should go up at a pretty rapid rate.
If they don't go up as soon as they would like, we have to go for further testing. They will test for a bacterial infection. It can't be treated so unless they are forced to test for it to rule it out, they don't want to. They will also start testing for a hereditary condition. The Dr. said there is a VERY small percent chance it is the cause, and if it were, it probably would have surfaced well before he was 11 months old.
So, other than keeping dry, the ice skates on our cars, and chasing our little runner we're just looking forward to Friday. Hard to believe his first birthday is just a few short days away.
