Christmas 2007

We had Christmas!! It is here... and gone. We had to cancel our trip to Oklahoma/Kansas since Kirby has been sick. We spent the day in Burlington with Mom & Dad, Becky, Catie & Dison. The boys had a good time seeing each other. Kirby was so excited when Dison arrived, I honestly think he tried to hug him. It was cute.

Since the last post, Kirby went to the Doctor for his one year checkup. He is average for weight, above average for height, and OFF the charts for head size. He also had two more hemoglobin checks. Last week he was 7.0, down from 7.6, and this week he is down to 6.7. The doctor said they'll consider another transfusion when he gets close to 6 - ugh.

They still do not know what is causing the hemolosis. One the good side, they have ruled out leukemia and any missing enzymes. There are two more tests they will check for when he is 3 months clean of a blood transfusion and is 18 months or older. Right now, he shows no signs for these two possibilities so the doctors still feel it could be a virus attacking his RBC's.

Tomorrow, we are off to Kansas City to see the Joe Westerman family & the Savener's. Hope you all had happy holidays! Catch up with us next year!!
